All brush grades have been categorized in four major grades:
- Carbon Graphite
- Electrographite
- Graphite
- Metal Graphite (Copper / Silver)
CARBON GRAPHITE
Carbon graphite mostly used at slow speeds, low-current densities and medium to low voltages on the machines those with flush mica commutators.
ELECTROGRAPHITE
Electrographite grade is used for excellent performance at high voltages and high speed with high-current densities. The grades have the capability to handle the overloads.
GRAPHITE
For special application where low friction at very low current densities is required at very high peripheral speed, Shah Engineering used the graphite grades.
METAL GRAPHITE (COPPER/SILVER)
Metal graphite carbon grade includes either the contents of copper, copper alloy or silver. The quantity varies between 8 – 95%.
Metal graphite grades are used at very high current densities and low voltages besides it added the conductivity and lower the voltage drop.
